At the time of writing, we are two weeks past the biggest flood on record for our valley. The amount of water was mind boggling, as was the area of land that was inundated and devastation caused to homes, businesses and farms.
When it comes to running a thriving farm, nothing beats knowing your land. We have compiled some observation prompts you may like to use after a flood to help you in the continuous improvement of your stewardship and production.
We hope that these are useful questions in the management of your property and understanding of your connection to the broader catchment. Most of all, we hope that you will be able to ‘bounce forward’ and make the best of the cards that were dealt to you by this event!
Use these in the days, weeks, and months after a flood. Your land may reveal the answers in time.
